FABLABS ACROSS INDIA
How do people connect, learn, and share ideas in fablabs across India?
As teachers, we’re so often used to being the ones who hold knowledge, and we can forget the journey of how we learn.
I’m embarking on a year-long research project, “Fablabs in Global Community Education” to better understand how fablabs support innovative learning in local communities. As a technologist, educator, and self-described maker, I fell accidentally into the fablab movement after taking Neil Gershenfeld’s MIT course “How to Make (Almost) Anything” while studying ed tech at Harvard. I was challenged to try things I didn’t know even existed (and set off a few fire alarms in the process!) Best of all, I remembered both the exhilarating and sometimes frustrating feeling of learning and making something new. You can follow my travel adventures and mishaps through my blog or on Instagram. Here’s to more making, doing, and learning!
